Accessing tools for notetaking and organization could help address barriers while remaining independent.
Student Disability Services–with the support of IT–provides specialized software for students with documented disabilities.
For Typing Notes:
- Otter.ai – web-based transcription application, which also allows typing notes on the side, as well as comment on and highlight the transcription. Limited accounts available to everyone for free (try it out!); full accounts can be assigned as an accommodation through SDS.
- Glean.co – web-based application that lets students capture class lectures and discussions. Audio notes are captured and visually labelled according to the level of importance. The app also provides the ability to import presentation slides which can then be linked to recorded audio.
For Handwritten Notes:
- Livescribe Echo Smartpen – currently supported on Windows
